Our Pupil Leadership Teams play a vital role in shaping our inclusive and values-driven school community.

Through their roles, children learn that leadership is not about power or position, but about service, listening, teamwork and making a positive difference. We are proud of the way our pupils lead with courage, compassion, and joy—growing not only in confidence, but also in faith, responsibility, and purpose.

Play Leaders

Our Play Leaders play an important role in making playtimes happy, safe, and inclusive for everyone. These responsible and caring pupils help younger children to join in games, make new friends, and solve small problems with kindness and respect. By encouraging teamwork and fairness, our Play Leaders help to create a playground where everyone feels welcome and valued.

Wellbeing Ambassadors

Our Wellbeing Ambassadors are pupils who help promote a positive, caring, and inclusive environment across the school. They support the emotional wellbeing of their peers by offering a friendly face, encouraging kindness, and helping others feel safe and valued. Working alongside staff, they help lead initiatives that support mental health, friendship, and a strong sense of community.

Laudato Si' Team

At our school, the Laudato Si’ Team helps us live out Pope Francis’ call to care for our common home. Inspired by the teachings of Laudato Si’, the team leads the way in promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and a deeper appreciation of God’s creation.

Through their actions and example, the Laudato Si’ Team helps us all become better stewards of God’s world.

Team for the Common Good

At St John the Baptist RC Primary School, the Team for the Common Good helps to promote one of the key principles of Catholic Social Teaching: working for the good of everyone in our community. This pupil leadership team looks for ways to support others, encourage fairness, and care for those in need—both within school and beyond. They lead projects that promote kindness, inclusion, charity, and justice, helping all pupils to understand that when we work together for the common good, we help build a more loving and compassionate world, just as Jesus taught us.

Worship Team

The Worship Team plays an important role in supporting the prayer and spiritual life of our school. They help to prepare and lead acts of collective worship, including assemblies, class liturgies, and key celebrations in the Church’s calendar. The team encourages others to take part in prayer and reflection, helping to create a calm, respectful atmosphere where everyone can feel close to God. Through their work, the Worship Team helps our school community grow in faith and live out our mission of journeying with Christ.

Curriculum Teams: History, Geography, Creative Arts, iLeaders, Maths, Language Ambassadors, and Science

At St John the Baptist RC Primary School, our Curriculum Teams help to promote a love of learning across the school. These pupil leaders work with staff to share ideas, give feedback, and support exciting projects and events linked to their subject. They help to make learning fun and meaningful by encouraging curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. Through their leadership, they inspire others to take pride in their work and to aim high, supporting our mission to grow together as a community of enthusiastic, confident learners.

Young Interpreters

Our Young Interpreters play a vital role in welcoming and supporting pupils who speak English as an additional language. These trained pupil leaders help new arrivals to settle into school life by offering friendship, guidance, and translation where possible. They promote inclusion and celebrate the rich diversity of languages and cultures in our school community. Through their work, the Young Interpreters help every child feel seen, valued, and supported—living out our mission of helping each other and journeying together with Christ.

Seeds and Gardeners

Our Seeds and Gardeners programme helps to build strong, caring relationships between older and younger pupils. ‘Gardeners’ are older children who act as role models and mentors, while ‘Seeds’ are younger pupils who benefit from their support and friendship. Together, they take part in shared activities that encourage kindness, cooperation, and confidence. This special partnership helps every child to feel included and supported, and reflects our mission to love, help, and learn from one another as we grow together on our journey with Christ.
